چکیده

Rather than using text for scientific research reports, we have proposed developing highly-structured reports with rich semantic models. In this paper, we consider detailed structures for the components of research reports using a modeling framework based on a rigorous upper ontology. For instance, we consider the use of structured descriptions of Research Designs to support evaluation of internal and external validity. In addition, collections of highly-structured scientific research reports would be the key component of a set of evolving and interlocking highlystructured scientific knowledgebases.

Globally distributed object identification for biological knowledgebases

The World-Wide Web provides a globally distributed communication framework that is essential for almost all scientific collaboration, including bioinformatics. However, several limits and inadequacies have become apparent, one of which is the inability to programmatically identify locally named objects that may be widely distributed over the network. This shortcoming limits our ability to integ...

Linked Data in a Scientific Collaboration Framework

In this paper, we describe a Scientific Collaboration Framework (SCF) with semantic underpinnings that is based on the popular content management system Drupal. The framework is designed to support interdisciplinary scientists in publishing, sharing and discussing content such as articles, perspectives, interviews and news items, as well as assert personal biographies and research interests – t...

Expansion of Tail Concept Using Web Tables

Human-curated knowledgebases like Freebase and DBPedia cover popular concepts such as persons, organizations and locations, but many more specific concepts fall into the long tail outside current knowledgebases, such as acidic fruits, HD video formats and renewable resources. These concepts are found in conceptentity pairs automatically extracted from text documents, but they cover a limited nu...

Exploiting the Semantic Web for Unsupervised Natural Language Semantic Parsing

In this paper, we propose to bring together the semantic web experience and statistical natural language semantic parsing modeling. The idea is that, the process for populating knowledgebases by semantically parsing structured web pages may provide very valuable implicit annotation for language understanding tasks. We mine search queries hitting to these web pages in order to semantically annot...

Partial Merging of Semi-structured Knowledgebases

Automatizing the merging of knowledgebases is an important step towards more efficient knowledge management. The cases when two knowledgebases need to be merged completely into a monolithic result, however, are relatively rare. Most often, some of the information is irrelevant, not trusted, or needs special treatment as a belief, opinion or preference. This paper presents an approach for partia...
